Balenciaga shoes fall winter 2017/2018 at Paris fashion week is about capturing “modern sophistication”. Celebrating 100 years of the iconic house founded by Cristóbal Balenciaga a century ago, Demna Gvasalia took the inspiration of the house photo archives,“this unseen record of the poses of [Cristóbal] Balenciaga’s house models as they clutch fabric and strike couture attitudes” according to the show notes.
As for shoes on the runway, it continued the skinny tight leg-hugging silhouette of spandex sock boots in bright neon colors.
They looked bold, daring, fearless and amazingly wearable. They may come out as an experimental audacious idea in Balenciaga Spring Summer 2016 collection. But the celebrities and street fashion icons embrace this sock boots trend with no hesitation and took it to the next level with all kinds of variations.
It’s about elegance and cool. “I like ease and wearability. These words nonchalance and attitude—I don’t know what the new synonyms are for them, but that’s it” said Demna Gvasalia.
Gvasalia has just bought himself a car, which inspired the pump designs on the runway. Featuring pointy toe and stiletto, the designer crafted the side upper with extra layer of crinkled fabric which tucked in as a knot at the back for a vision of an automobile.
Besides polka dots or floral prints, some of the pumps were printed with the brand’s name underlined with red and white stripes for a sporty casual chic.
