Christian Dior shoes fall winter 2017/2018 at Paris fashion week are very diversified featuring pumps, thigh high boots, sneakers and moto boots with the intention of being more inclusive of many kinds of tastes.
“I want to build a wardrobe. I don’t believe in one uniform for everyone, but that everyone needs to find her own uniform, in which to express and protect herself” said Maria Grazia Chiuri “I need to speak to the millennials, and understand this generation because I want to support them.”
Featuring square toe, low block heels and straight tailored shaft, the suede thigh high boots were designed to be feminine with relaxed attitude. The simplicity amplified true elegance. It’s the kind of pieces any woman would like to own.
Then there were moto boots with buckled straps across the toe box. Solid sturdy rubber sole and leather delivered a message of female empowerment with tough edge, a refreshing statement of “We Should All Be Feminists” and “Dio(R)evolution” as read on the T-shirt of last season.
The genderless navy blue sneakers are a relevant piece of Dior’s commitment to realistic streetwear styles. The color was inspired by the famous quote from Christian Dior in A Little Dictionary of Fashion “Among all the colors, navy blue is the only one which can ever compete with black, it has all the same qualities.”
According to the show notes, Grazia Chiuri looked to blue because it is a “symbol of power, beauty, and spirituality [that] is employed for genderless outfits and to express differences. It is positioned between nature and culture as the color of the spirit, of contact with the infinite, in us and beyond. It initiates a link to the mystery of the moon, the comets and planets that explode on evening dresses of opulent velvet or on degrade tulle that blends into the blue-grey of embroidered lily flowers. Blue fascinates through its emotional resonance, but also its social quality. It encapsulates a real cross-section in terms of gender, age, and social class.”
