Derek Lam Fall Winter 2015 – 2016 collection is inspired by “New York women, specifically Mia Farrow, Dianne Wiest and those Woody Allen kinds of characters.”, to be more specific , a particular “intellectual, Yankee thing” embodied by those women.

“I ask women, ‘how do you use fashion?’ and I try to respond to that,” said Lam “We do that, from tailoring to sweaters to dresses, and casual evening,”

With easy, unfussy, practical iconic American style clothes, Derek Lam presented the shoes just as classic,  featuring square toe and chunky heel, creating a powerful yet sophisticated silhouette, ideal daily wear for women achievers who earn their own living. The piped detailing and contrasting color blocks converted classics into fashion with a fine touch, in the form of straightforwardness and subtlety.
