Mulberry collection fall winter 2017/2018 was inspired by English countryside. Creative director Johnny Coca, who made name as an accessories designer, presented a fabulous collection of shoes on the runway including boots, loafers, Mary-Jane pumps and sandals.
In black, dark tan or white, the stunning mesh boots were designed with slim chunky heels and very round toe box. A leather strap runs from front to the shaft. Mesh added textural interest, spicing up the design while maintain the breathability for comfort. By mixing mesh with leather, it delivered a message of a trendy statement without being over the top. The round toe English countryside granny’s wardrobe boots are well modernized with the right combination of heels, colors and materials.
In the tight fit silhouette, the leather boots and lower heeled patent leather boots came in the vibrant hues pulled from nature of English countryside, like green from the rolling hills, brown from trees trunks, lavender from flowers and orange from roof top. The streamlined upper design is very easy to style. Low block heels add casual chic while high chunky heels are ready for dress up.
Mary-Jane and lace up pumps were adorned with jewels like from a countryside granny’s jewelry box. Crocodile or snakeskin print leather was used on these styles to enhance the modernity.
Made of crocodile print leather, metallic leather or velvet, strap sandals were also jeweled with sparkles in the shape like wheat heads. Thick knitted socks were styled with these sandals to further elaborate the theme of English countryside.
According to WWD, creative director Johnny Coca said he was thinking of a young woman wandering the halls and rummaging through the closets of the family’s stately home, adapting her grandmother’s wardrobe to suit her modern life. She definitely did it with these shoes on the runway.
