Valentino men shoes spring 2018 is about colorful and impressive sneakers with details inspired by Central American culture. Valentino menswear spring 2018 is streetwear and sportswear influenced. Nothing works better than sneakers for such a line. “It’s sport meets craft. It’s very human in the way it’s done, but it’s kind of collective in the look,” the designer told WWD. “I wanted to get the idea of different cultures mixing together into one whole world, because there is no reason to have barriers, either mental or physical.”
All the sneakers were completed with high tops and white molded outersoles. The mesh or multicolor knitted uppers were crafted into sock boots with lace up front for comfort adjustment. Tribal symbol prints was one of many diversified themes for uppers of these runway sneakers.
Some sneakers are moccasin inspired with stitching detailing replaced by multicolor piped binding edges. Color blocks in wave pattern holding down shoe laces enhanced the sports vibe. “Valentino Garavani” reads on the side. Strap stitches that run all the way into the outersole are distinctively special, added extra flavor to the sneakers.
Then there were sneakers with cross stitches and blocks of metallic patchworks to reflect the mirror handworks of Central American culture. Geometric embroidery and fringes were among other touches of folk and tribal influences. “Diversity means allowing people to show their personality, their individuality in their own way. If that’s the case, all the pieces have to be key pieces in a way — items to mix with your own wardrobe in your own way, to underline your personality” Piccioli explained to WWD.
