Alexander Wang shoes spring 2017 are sports and beach wear influenced. The master of street wear presented fringed ankle boots, thong sandals, contrast-stitched sneakers, caged slippers on the runway of spring 2017 fashion show at New York Fashion Week.
The designer unveiled the collaboration with Adidas Originals at the end of the show. The iconic stripes also found the way to the side of fringed ankle boots, showing the literal and aesthetical connection of street wear and sports brands.
“I grew up on sneakers,” said the designer “It’s a very interesting time obviously for (all) sportswear, the whole market and how people utilize fitness, incorporate it into their daily uniform. So the sneaker is something that I’ve always been very close to. And it’s always been something that’s very hard for us to do in house, to be honest — obviously Adidas has the most innovative resources.”

The thong sandals are neatly constructed with buckled ankle straps, which is connected to the bottom via a piece of leather rope, converting regular street wear sandals into a water sports influenced shoe design.
The designer said backstage that he was going for a “liberating, free, surfer attitude and sensibility. Everything was put through the lens of water sports.”
The evening dress was paired with crystal studded caged slippers, elevated the luxury vibe while remaining comfortable.
