The oxfords and oxfords mules were crafted in black white leather and lace up in white, featuring rounded square toe and flat soles. One of the designer’s inspirations for resort 2018 is the movie of “Working Girl” from ‘80s. The oxfords interpreted the Manhattan corporate culture. With a shoe style originated from men’s closet, the designer kept a safe distance from ultra-feminine high heels of previous seasons and went for a very opposite direction of gender free shoe styles, a trend picking up speed recently.

For the lace up sandals, Joseph Altuzarra displayed the rural side of the inspirations. The fabric straps are crafted raw and unpolished, casually wrapped around ankle and tied up at the back. The designer didn’t go for espadrille on the rest of the shoe but took the urban influence of rubber sole and leather pieces to finish up the look.

“I was watching a lot of movies that had to do with corporate uniforms — ‘American Psycho,’ ‘Working Girl,’” said Altuzarra to WWD during his presentation. “I took workwear staples, broke them down and put them back together.” The collection is injected with a sense of ease. “It’s a softer, relaxed collection,” said the designer.
