The designer revisited the famous archive of woven clutch bag carried by Lauren Hutton in the 1980 movie American Gigolo, and updated one of the most recognizable elements of the brand, intrecciato weave, on the pumps of spring summer 2017, as a fancy outersole welt and partially woven toe box.

For oxfords, luxurious crocodile leather was used for the upper, featuring self-covered high wedge with welted sole. When many brands pulled out flatforms and sock boots to keep up with the current trends during fashion weeks, Bottega Veneta ‘s luxury approach of artisanal production on classic timeless styles became distinctive and well played.

Today’s show is a grand occasion for Bottega Veneta. It’s the brand’s 50th anniversary celebration. Tomas Maier, who has been the creative director of Bottega Venera for 15 years, said “Thank you” in his own way: At the end of the show, Tomas Maier walked on the stage and took his bow together with a small group of fellow designers from his studio. He also switched the location of the show to a bigger place to accommodate extra seating including that for 250 in-house artisans.
Gigi Hadid and Lauren Hutton walked down the runway arm in arm at the end of the show, to celebrate Bottega Venera’s timeless classic sophistication, which is age neutral and season free.
