Fashion East shoes spring 2017 at London fashion week are very interesting and colorful with a nod to punk. Featuring bold colors, graffiti, hand-prints, mesh, neon, rhinestone encrusted mesh fringe, ribbons tied to caged sandals and stockings covered slip on mules, the designer presented a line of cheerful footwear which is innovative, loud, fun and energetic.
Since graduating from Central Saint Martins in 2015, Matty Bovan has become one of London’s most exciting young designers with outstanding job references in big fashion houses, such as assisted in Louis Vuitton’s Paris atelier, developed prints for Marc Jacobs and made mannequins for Miuccia Prada at Miu Miu. His debut with Lulu Kennedy’s Fashion East was highly anticipated.
“I knew I wanted it, but always thought it might not happen. I was quite realistic, especially as there are labels that struggle,” said Matty Bovan “But as time has gone on, I’ve realized how important it is to be able to share your vision with the world.”
Matty Bovan is known for inventive knits, bold usage of clashing colors and mixture of loud textures. “My brand is me,” said Bovan “It’s lots of different textures and colors, this cacophony of textures. Even if I start trying to be quite simple, I always end up having a lot going on in the fabrics and the silhouettes.”
