Fashion sneakers are the new stilettos. From Nike to slip-on, sneakers are having a serious moment in fashion.
“The moment of the model in six-inch heels and platforms, teetering down the runway doesn’t feel modern anymore,” Sasha Sarokin, buying director for Net-a-Porter told Business of Fashion. “It’s not only about the £700 designer shoe, but the sneaker she can wear in her everyday life.”
Sneakers aren’t just for the gym anymore, but rather a cool, low-maintenance comfortable must-have fashion staple and Gigi Hadid just showed us how to suit up with sneakers that screams “chic” not “sloppy”.
The off-duty model was spotted in NYC wearing striped suit in vibrant colors with a white turtle-neck crop top and a pair of white fashion sneakers.
The sneakers lend a particular youthfulness and edgy to the look of striped suit, injecting an unexpected twist to the basic silhouette. The crop top provided a sleeker streamlined trendy aesthetic rather than the formality which comes with a chiffon blouse otherwise.
