Gucci shoes spring summer 2017 at Milan fashion week offered various styles including sandals, loafers, Mary-Jane, pumps and mules. One thing particular interesting is the “two in one” flatform shoes, which appeared to be one shoe but actually can be worn separately. When remove the flatform base by unbuckle the thin straps across upper, the upper itself can be worn as a pair of regular flats. Of course, you can also switch the upper part of the shoes for a totally refreshing new look as long as it fit on the flatform base.
Alessandro Michele explained that the inspiration comes from 15th century. When the city was flooded, the 5 inch wedges, platforms or flatforms became functional for deep water walking. On the runway today, Gucci reintroduced this vintage footwear and updated with modern shapes. It’s amazing something from 600 years ago can still turn out to be fashionable at modern days.
Other than two in one flatform shoes, Gucci shoe spring 2017 on the runway continue to be quirky, embroidered and sparkly. Chunky heel platform loafers are covered with rhinestones. Snake and tiger embroidery featured on the toe box of square toe slides. Giant glitter bows were placed at the front of pointy toe pumps.
Gucci spring 2017 fashion show took place in the projected 70s nightclub scene with mist imitating the cigarette smoke and mirrors on the wall. Models walked down the runway while Florence Welch was reading the poems of William Blake on the soundtrack. The title of the show is “Magic Lanterns”. “The thought overflows undisciplined,” explained in the show notes. “It’s an intentionally unsystematic thought.”
