For men spring 2017 collection, Miuccia Prada themed it as “traveling”. The designer revisited the brand’s glorious best seller of nylon backpacks from ’80’s and the sport line launched in’90’s, with modern updates such as bright colors, fun prints, loud checks and graphic stripes.
“I’m kind of finished with vintage,” said Miuccia Prada (Thank God!). The idea of traveling, sharing, joining different cultures is the new inspiration for the designer.
The nylon backpack introduced in 1984 built the foundation for Prada’s successful transformation from Italian luggage manufacturer to a luxury fashion label. No doubt, the clever accessories are the bread and butter for Prada.
The shoes on the runway of men spring 2017 collection are colorful and wearable, very different from Prada’s dressy impression in the past. The buckled strap sandals with EVA soles are perfect for a summer vacation at the beach. Sleek Neoprene boots featuring Velcro strap across the front are fun and functional. The designer also explored different production techniques for men spring 2017 collection with an example of one-piece injection molded yellow cross strap sandals.
A silhouette of bulky backpacks is universal for all the looks on the runway. The successful Nylon backpacks were reintroduced in the brand’s men spring 2017 collection. Some are dangled with a pair of spotless brogues, or stiletto pumps patched with red lips or flowers. “In case you want to have a beautiful evening,” the designer explained.

Prada needs to kick-start growth after posting its lowest profit in five years this spring. Since dressy stiletto shoe sales has been down across the retail section, while sporty trend has no sign to go away soon, it’s just wise to introduce the whole new line of active wear to embark on the young and fashionable clientele.
