Saint Laurent shoes spring summer 2017 at Paris fashion week is about the essence of Yves Saint Laurent – provocative femininity mixed with sharp masculinity. Featuring pointy toe and stilettos, the designer dialed up the sexy appeal on the sandals and pumps and kept it simple, with minimum decoration of metallic straps on the toe box or ruffled metallic cyclamen motif on the side straps.
As a debut show of Saint Laurent new creative director, Anthony Vaccarello reinstalled the iconic initials “YSL”, which was banned by his predecessor Hedi Slimane, on the shoes as logo sculptured heels of the pointy toe pumps with narrow straps buckled around the ankle.
Paired with glittery socks, updated with fur trim or laser cut semi-attached circles sort of look like fish scale pattern from distance, the oxfords or ankle boots balanced the feminine dresses or skirts with sharp masculinity for a more casual look.
“I wanted to have fun,” said Anthony Vaccarello about his debut collection “I wanted to have a clin d’oeil – a wink – to Yves Saint Laurent, rather than… He did so many things, I don’t want to repeat the things he has done. It’s not about the garments, my idea of YSL lies in the attitude and how we handle things. There are fabrics like leather, vinyl, velvet, lace, but then they’re put on a girl of today.”
