“Life is a butterfly! So all the collection is that!” explained Jean Paul Gaultier during a preview on the eve of his couture show. From butterfly decorated across sheer tops to wing like dresses, it was a celebration of the beautiful creation.

Several shoe designs were spotted on the runway of Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture Show Spring 2014, mainly featuring pointed toe, T-bar and ankle straps, lace up bootie sandals and ultra high Lucite platform filled with glitter.

The shoes are constructed mostly with patent or pearl shine leather, satin and clear PVC, which are used to emphasis the designers’ light and mobile theme of butterfly.

Mesh, sequin and glitter fabric are occasionally used on the upper and heel to remind us of the second parallel and paradoxical theme of the design: showgirl. “She’s a butterfly in the day, and a showgirl at night,” said a press attaché.
