On the runway of Paris fashion week fall/winter 2014, python prints and patent leather are still very much in trend.

Saint Laurent looked to the sixties mod movement for their fall-winter 2014 collection. Along with a-line skirts, mini shift dresses, the swing coat in plaids, Saint Laurent girls were paired with Mary-Jane pumps in glitter, patent knee high boots with or without studs, all featuring block chunky heels and round toes.

Lanvin women walked down the runway with fringe decorated hat and chunky square heeled sandals and thigh high boots. Louis Vuitton presented curved or low heeled patent boots and sandals. Chanel went all out on sneakers. Alexander Macqueen and Rick Owens shoes were sports inspired too.

Miu Miu Paris Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2014-2015

Miu Miu Paris fashion week fall 2014 was like Oscar reunion. Lupita Nyong’o, Rihanna, Margot Robbie, Elizabeth Olsen, Elle Fanning and Jared Leto all made appearance at Miu Miu.

Along with the boxy oversized coats, miniskirts and nylon vests, Miuccia Prada presented the shoes featuring spike screw-like metal heels, which are chromed or painted.

The colorful PVC boots are lace closed on top, great inspiration for the chic rain boots designers. Metallic pointed toe boots are designed with adjustable straps on top and small bow at the front. The pointed toe pumps feature an adjustable mini T-strap, very feminine and wearable. The small bows on the satin sandals are exquisite and subtle, not too loud but difficult to ignore.

Balenciaga Paris Fashion Week Shoes Fall/Winter 2014-2015

Balenciaga Fall 2014 was streamlined with a focus on outerwear including fisherman inspired jackets and sweaters, accented with bold neon colors as influenced by Alexander Wang.

The designer completed the look with small square toe boots and pumps, featuring wrapped-in heels and luxe crocodile or color patch on the toe box. The leather is neatly stitched together between the heel cover and the outersole to create a wing look. Back of the heel is completed with a little strip as the seam cover, which goes all the way to the upper.

Wrapped-in heels are commonly seen on wedges with a straight cut, because it is much easier to mass produce compared to curved wedges or high heels like on Balenciaga shoe designs. But when money and capacity are no concern, fashion is entitled with more freedom.

Balmain Paris Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2014-2015

Balmain Fall 2014 collections are inspired by military and samurai dress. mixed with jungle influenced animal prints.

Olivier Rousteing, the youngest designer in charge of a Paris house, said at the backstage “I’m going to send a message to the world with fashion. Which is my job. I am not just only doing clothes I am screaming really loudly for freedom and I am using my clothes to make this happen. This collection is all about mixing, it is my new jungle story. All the girls are from everywhere and they are screaming very loudly freedom, and open your mind – it’s fashion.”

The shoes are obviously jungle inspired too, featuring bamboo shaped heels and rope weaved upper. Some of the dresses and skirts are finished in the same way. The leather rope intertwined upper reminded us of the rattan-weaved web, which are connected with leather pieces and have a back zipper opening.

Other than leather ropes, the designer also used regular fabric ropes to emphasize the theme. Ropes are knotted in the middle and extended to the sole and the back zipper piece. On one of the sandal designs, the fabric ropes are reinforced with golden ties at the front, very tribal symbolic.

The shoes of Dior fall 2014 are very sports influenced. Instead of going all out on sneakers like Chanel, Dior shoes took the inspiration from sports molded soles and integrated it with fashion high heels, along with regular pointed tiny square toe dress shoe uppers.

The sports inspired molded outersoles look very bouncy and comfortable, carrying blocks of colors like their garment, with “Dior” engraved on the side. The thickness of the molded sole created a platform at the front, which paired with curved heels. Uppers are pointed toe pumps with adjustable ankle straps in black patent, pale pink leather or python print.
