Valentino shoes Fall Winter 2017/2018 at Paris Fashion Week are moving forward into the next era of Valentino with edgy grungy cut out laced up combat boots. “It’s new when you see things that you already know, and you connect them in a different way” said Pierpaolo Piccioli regarding his third solo designed collection since Maria Grazia Chiuri departed for Christian Dior.
The collection was inspired by Victoriana and the Memphis design movement of the Eighties. It’s a merge of dreamy romanticism with post-modernist style.
Grounded with studded solid rubber sole, the lace up boots were designed to be practical and down to earth. The cut out on buckled strapped shaft added a strong geometric motif, tapping into the graphic artistic side of Memphis design. When paired with romantic dresses, it’s a perfect balance of Valentino’s signature femininity with a bit of forward-thinking edge.
Then there were straight tailored boots in bright colors with round toe, stacked chunky heels and studded back straps. Clashing of colors, shapes and patterns delivered a message of functional, casual chic and effortless cool.
