Versace shoes spring summer 2017 at Milan fashion week are sportswear influenced, luxurious and different. Sexy and sporty platform sandals are asymmetrically designed with mesh or Lycra upper in a tight fit silhouette and strapped down with Velcro sports band. In a nod to sneaker rubber soles, extra “wings” were added to the top of chunky heels hugging the side of back upper as a heel stabilizer. Island platforms were kept matt for an interesting contrast with glossy heels.
Made of neoprene and leather, boots on the runway are much more colorful with patchwork in bold colors of blue, beige and red while piped in black. Asymmetric tailoring continued on the toe tip of the boots.
More relaxed and casual chic flatform sandals are simplified down to sporty straps. Glittery sewn-on tubes, stones or crystals occasionally appeared on the flatform straps for a luxurious makeover. Brand “Versace” was embossed on strap of thong sandals for a further push on athletic style.
Versace spring summer 2017 collection is full on athleisure-inspired. “Sportswear is the future of fashion,” Donatella Versace wrote in her show notes. “This is a collection that is all about a woman’s freedom: freedom of movement, freedom of activity, freedom to fight for their ideas, freedom to be whomever you want to be.”
Models including Naomi Campbell, Edie Campbell, Taylor Hill, Stella Maxwell, Adriana Lima, Gigi Hadid and her sister Bella Hadid walked down the runway to a feminist soundtrack written by Violet and Photonz, exhorting an end to passivity. “Living is better than dreaming”. The message is loud and clear.
