Alexander McQueen men shoes spring 2018 continues the designer’s inspiration of fall 2017 womenswear collection, mainly paganism and ancient artisanal crafts detailing. Sarah Burton can’t get enough of nature and folklore. “I love the idea of paganism and make-do-and-mend, and explorers and pioneers,” the designer told WWD at backstage “to kind of ground him.”

The clothes on the runway may be not entirely summer appropriate featuring leather shirts, quilted jackets or heavy coats. Sarah Burton did introduce the buckled strap sandals for men for next spring in her own version of buckles and studs. The elevated flatform foot bed seems very comfortable to walk in, which were also studded all the way around.

In Alexander McQueen womenswear fall 2017 collection, red leather strips inspired by ribbons tied to a Cloutie tree for wishes and mementoes in ancient time, made an impression on the runway shoes. For spring 2018 men shoes, the designer took the color and used it as the shoe lace on the heavy built studded combat boots. Some were styled with tribal printed socks to further enhance the folklore elements.

“The idea is of celebrating nature as being part of nature, as opposed to this kind of clashing between the two. It’s not about conquering or ruling, it’s really about the idea of being at one with nature and the world,” Burton said.
