Tory Burch fall winter 2017/2018 collection was inspired by Tracy Lord, Katharine Hepburn’s character in The Philadelphia Story. “It’s about going back to my roots and doing a take on something familiar” said Tory Burch.
Featuring wide square toe box and chunky heels, the shoes on the runway are classic and fabulous. Tory Burch took the shoe style of 40’s and transformed them with elegance and sophistication for today’s wear. The color palette of brown, black, olive green and light tan precisely captured the shoe fashion during the war years with a splash of patriotic reds, whites and blues.
Made of suede, the knee high boots are streamlined with tight fit shaft. A chain in the same color run across the front and ended with ball charms. Chunky heel and emphasized square toe delivered the message of power and strength.
The loafers are characterized with 40’s fashion statements of big velvet bow decoration or two tones in black white. Cut out embroidered bow loafers are grounded with visually interesting ball heels.
Flats are designed with a pointy toe and cut out top. Velvet strap run across the holes on the side and tie up as a bow on top, adding a feminine touch to the practical and comfortable style.
Nicely detailed, thought through and well executed, the shoes on the runway are impressive, transcending the magnetism of the muse Tracy Lord’s personality, highlight her beauty, vulnerability and her human and feminine side.
