Alexander McQueen fall winter 2015/2016 collection is inspired by rose. “I was thinking about the female form, and some pictures David Sims took of roses,” Sarah Burton explained. “There’s such beauty in all stages of the life of a rose. So there’s this sense of a woman, who becomes slightly unraveled as she goes along and her clothing starts peeling away. . . .”
The rose spirit, as Burton quoted “the fragility of life and the fragility of beauty, and how there can be beauty in decay,” but also, “the idea of decay and rejuvenation in real life.” is delivered with pleated leathers, beautiful laces and rose pattern at the end.
The shoes on the runway are crafted with lace and stretchy soft leather, featuring a rounded square toe, tight fit and golden trimmed Lucite high heels. The lace detailing and puffed heel counter set the designs in a Victorian mood, low key but relevant to the rose theme.
