Altuzarra collection fall winter 2017/2018 were inspired by Renaissance portraiture. “It was a time,” said Joseph Altuzarra “when people became interested in how people really looked.”
The collection is a mix match of vintage inspiration and modernity on multi levels, like the designer quoted Shakespeare’s Lady Macbeth “Look like th’ innocent flower, but be the serpent under ’t.”

For an impressive twist, the 15th century portraits inspired clothes were paired with very modern grungy combat boots. As if the thick lug sole and grommets are not enough, the designer took them to the next level by adding pearls, ribbons, embroidery, subtle mix of colors and materials on the shaft.
“I became interested in the costume and the mood,” said Joseph Altuzarra “I wanted to explore a tension, having the richness and rigor of those portraits but also the more real aspect as well.”

What could be more real than functional versatile comfortable footwear like combat boots? The edgy rebellious attitude of these boots along with torn stocking, quilted coat, velvet suits or floral dress painted a dazzling picture of exquisitely dressed badass leading lady.
