Gucci shoes cruise 2018 are embroidered, studded and adorned, combining all the rich decorations with edgy luxurious designs. Gucci cruise 2018 show took place at the Palatine gallery of the Palazzo Pitti in Florence, Italy. Since the original plan of having the shoe in Athens was not possible, Alessandro Michele took the inspiration from the next big step in civilization – the Renaissance, and injected some rock’n’roll in the collection.

Compared to the dreamy luxurious decorated cloth on the runway, the platform chunky heels pumps were kept simple to bring out the pop color socks printed with Gucci logo. “The Gucci logo is the hieroglyph of the company, it’s the biggest decoration, it’s like a pop symbol, it makes everything powerful so I love it,” said Alessandro Michele.

The loafers on the runway were crafted with more details of studs, spikes or animal print. Rich texture and ornamentations enhanced the classic footwear design with an edgy cool flavor.

The ankle boots are decorated with dragon embroidery on the side, clearly orientalism inspired. Alessandro Michele has always been fascinated about the inspiration of the past. Renaissance for this season is just part of it. To Alessandro Michele, Florence, as the very beginning of European aesthetics, with beauty, money, creativity and power of good money, is fascinating and it’s still here in our cultures.
“Everything started from the idea of the Mediterranean, the antique Greek and Roman culture, how it still transforms everything. The other big step was the Renaissance so I came here and it was the right moment for the brand, the company started here, what I am doing is closer to the city than at other moments of the company. Florence is still one of the most fascinating metropolises of the past. I adore the classical pieces of our culture, the Greek and Roman are still inside and everywhere, it’s impossible to disconnect. I feel very comfortable here” as explained by the designer.
